Welcome to the Swan Point Inn, a premier Rock Hall restaurant located on Rt. 20 overlooking Swan Creek, in the area known locally as Gratitude. Rock Hall today is still a working town of watermen seeking those tasty crustaceans and bi-valves (hard shell crab and oysters) and the trophy fish know locally as “rock,” (striped bass) in the annual fishing tournament. The Swan Point Inn was formerly a waterman’s home – tavern/cum restaurant known as the Wheelhouse and was frequented by local waterman after a day on the Bay. Some of the stories and myths surrounding the tavern are too colorful to print here, but we will say that bragging rights and strong opinions frequently manifested into physical activities. The Wheelhouse boasted a “large bar, a pool room, cold beer, plenty of food, and on weekends live music for your dancing pleasure.” The property was sold several years ago and transformed into an Inn with three comfortable rooms, each with private bath, pleasing accommodations and two with a lovely view of Swan Creek. All have air conditioning and color cable television. The area of the former pool room is now a small intimate cocktail lounge offering a wide selection of fine spirits and beer. The area of the original bar is now a spacious dining room displaying antique dishes and original artwork by local artists. The original dining room/dance floor is now a second dining room and one most frequently requested for private parties and banquets. This room overlooks Swan Creek and is tastefully decorated with local artwork and has its own private entrance, fireplace for intimate dining, and direct access to our deck. Our kitchen is a work in progress as we develop new entrees, add new equipment, replace and upgrade to meet the demands of a growing tourist industry that has become Rock Hall. The constant, however, remains the same; to provide quality cuisine prepared to order from the freshest ingredients available in a clean, comfortable and friendly atmosphere. We use real butter, potatoes, cream, cheeses, eggs, sauces and gravies. If you would like something left off, please tell your server. Also, this is not a nut free environment. Our kitchen staff is professionally trained, certified in sanitation and take pride in their work. If you have any special dietary requirements, please don’t hesitate to speak to one of our chefs.
